When Was Moana 2 Announced?

The exciting news was officially unveiled on February 7th by Walt Disney Company Chief Executive Bob Iger, confirming that the movie is scheduled to set sail onto screens later this year.

“Moana remains an incredibly beloved franchise,” Iger remarked in the announcement. “And we’re thrilled to bring more of Moana and Maui to audiences when Moana 2 makes its theatrical debut this November.” Needless to say, anticipation is running high!

What’s the Storyline of Moana 2?

According to the official synopsis, “Moana 2 embarks audiences on a thrilling new journey alongside Moana, Maui, and a fresh ensemble of unlikely adventurers.

“After receiving an unexpected summons from her ancestral way finders, Moana embarks on a perilous voyage to the distant seas of Oceania and uncharted waters, encountering challenges unlike any she has faced before.”

Who’s in the Moana 2 Cast?

While Disney has yet to confirm the full cast, fans can expect to see familiar faces reprising their roles, including:

• Auli’i Cravalho as Moana
• Dwayne Johnson as Maui Nicole
• Scherzinger as Sina
• Temuera Morrison as Chief Tai

Behind the scenes, the sequel is slated to be helmed by director Dave Derrick Jr., with music composed by Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, known for their viral sensation, the Bridgerton musical. Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina are also contributing to the film’s musical score.

Regrettably, Lin-Manuel Miranda, who earned acclaim and an Oscar nomination for his work on the song ‘How Far I’ll Go’ in the first film, will not be returning for the sequel.
