Growing up as a kid in Brooklyn, Jeremy Allen White rarely ventured into Lower Manhattan, but when he did to visit his best friend, the city’s enormity left an indelible impression on him. The towering buildings, wider streets, and colossal billboards, especially the iconic Calvin Klein one, all contributed to the awe he felt.
White, an intriguing personality in his own right, never envisioned being part of a Calvin Klein campaign. Reflecting on this unexpected turn in his career, he admitted, “I didn’t see this in my future necessarily. Who grows up thinking, Yeah, I’ll be in a Calvin Klein campaign?”
However, the fortunate opportunity arrived at the perfect moment for White. Having established a robust fitness foundation while filming The Iron Claw the previous winter, where he underwent a significant physical transformation to portray wrestler Kerry Von Erich, he had slimmed down considerably. Interestingly, the movie provided more than just a physical advantage; it offered a psychological edge. “I was used to running around in front of large groups of people in my underwear because of [The Iron Claw],” White shared. “So maybe there was some mental and emotional prep from that job.”
