Drea De Matteo: Sopranos Star Says OnlyFans ‘Saved’ Her Life

Drea De Matteo, famed for her role as Adriana La Cerva on The Sopranos, has credited OnlyFans with rescuing her from financial ruin amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The actress revealed in an interview with the Daily Mail that she was on the brink of homelessness, left with just $10 in her bank account, before turning to the controversial social media platform.

“OnlyFans saved my life, 100 percent,” Drea exclaimed.“I can’t believe I’m saying that, but it really did save us.”

Struggling to find work due to her stance against COVID-19 vaccine mandates, which hindered her opportunities in Hollywood, De Matteo found herself facing foreclosure on her home, compounded by personal tragedies including the loss of her mother and financial strain in caring for her other mother who suffers from dementia.

Initially hesitant to join OnlyFans, Drea De Matteo had contemplated launching a controversial podcast with her partner, Robby Staebler, but ultimately decided to share risqué photos on the platform to alleviate her financial burdens.

“In five minutes, I was able to pay back Compass Real Estate who kept the sale of my house,” she recalled of her initial foray into OnlyFans. “I did it, but I didn’t want to do it. I got a lot of heat for doing it and it went viral and people went nuts.”

Despite facing criticism for her decision, De Matteo remains unapologetic, asserting, “Anybody that wants to condemn me and put me down, go for it. I just hope you never find yourself in the position I was in to take care of two little kids.”

Reflecting on her transition to OnlyFans, Drea De Matteo expressed regret for not pursuing the idea sooner, acknowledging the societal shift towards embracing sexuality on social media platforms like Instagram.

“I know some people have said some nasty things about me having joined OnlyFans,” she stated. “But, you know, the way we see it in this house is mummy’s a warrior, not accepting defeat… I figured, ‘OK, so everybody’s in their underwear and being sexy on Instagram and I don’t do that, but I can do that and get paid for it’…I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner.”

Even after facing some backlash, Drea De Matteo has stuck to her decision and been confident, as it was the choice that she had to make due to the problematic circumstances that she and her children were going through.
