Steven Yeun Will Not Star In Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’

According to sources from The Hollywood Reporter, Steven Yeun will not be joining the cast of “Thunderbolts,” the upcoming antihero-centric feature by Marvel Studios. Although Yeun’s involvement was initially reported in February, Marvel never officially confirmed the casting. The film, centred around a team of Marvel antiheroes and supervillains was officially announced at Disney’s D23 Expo in 2022.

Directed by Jake Schreier, Thunderbolts is rumored to bring together a team of Marvel’s antiheroes and villains. During a D23 presentation five months prior, Marvel revealed that Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, and Wyatt Russell would be part of the Thunderbolts cast. However, the film faced delays due to last year’s dual writers and actors strikes, causing a schedule shift across Hollywood. Originally slated for July 2024, Thunderbolts was pushed back a year to July 2025 and is yet to commence filming.

Steven Yeun continues to make waves in the entertainment industry, leading the voice cast of Amazon’s adaptation of the Robert Kirkman comic, “Invincible.” Known for his prominent roles in “The Walking Dead,” Yeun is also a contender in the awards season for his Netflix limited series “Beef,” competing for the Golden Globe for Best Male Actor in a Limited Series and later contending for an Emmy in the Actor in a limited series category. Additionally, as an executive producer of “Beef,” Yeun shares an Emmy nomination in the outstanding or limited series category.
