Kate Garraway is set to make a poignant return to her television role next week after laying her husband, Derek Draper, to rest on Friday. ITV has officially confirmed that the presenter will participate in a live interview on Good Morning Britain on Monday, during which she will open up about Draper’s final weeks and the details of his funeral ceremony.
Following the interview, Kate Garraway will resume her hosting duties on Thursday, rejoining Ben Shephard on the show. The renowned broadcaster had been on a hiatus since early December when Draper suffered a cardiac arrest.
The Sun reports that although Kate Garraway is tentatively scheduled to return full-time, ITV has extended the option for her to take time off as needed. The network is expected to tease her comeback tonight.
Derek Draper, a former political adviser and author, battled severe complications from Covid, stemming from his contraction of the virus in March 2020. Kate Garraway chronicled his struggle in ITV documentaries, illustrating the daily care he required.
