Hollywood News, Jon Stewart returns on The Daily Show

Jon Stewart, the famous host of “The Daily Show,” is coming back to the show. He’ll be on every Monday during the 2024 election time, starting on February 12 after the Super Bowl on CBS.

On Mondays, which is usually the show’s most popular day, Stewart will be the main host. Other members of the “Daily Show” team will take turns hosting from Tuesday to Thursday. Stewart will not only host but also be an executive producer of the show, along with his longtime manager James “Baby Doll” Dixon, and the show’s returning producer, Jen Flanz.

Someone who knows about this said that Stewart will be in charge of producing all the episodes of “The Daily Show” in 2025 and will likely keep doing that after. Fans are excited to see Stewart, a comedian and political commentator, share his clever and funny perspective on current events.

Chris McCarthy, the head of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, is thrilled about Stewart’s return. He said,

“Jon Stewart is the voice of our generation, and we are honored to have him return to Comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show’ to help us all make sense of the insanity and division roiling the country as we enter the election season.”

Stewart had a big impact on “The Daily Show” during his 16 years as host. He turned it into a huge deal, known for his smart criticisms of news, especially his memorable criticisms of Fox News. His bold approach changed late-night comedy and helped launch the careers of people like Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, Trevor Noah, Michael Che, and Samantha Bee.

After leaving “The Daily Show,” Stewart hosted “The Problem with Jon Stewart” on Apple TV+. However, the show was canceled after two seasons in October 2023 because of creative differences, including limits on discussing certain topics. The cancellation led to an investigation by the House of Representatives Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, looking into claims that Apple executives restricted discussions about China and artificial intelligence.

Is Jon Stewart back on ‘The Daily Show’ for the Long run?

Stewart coming back to “The Daily Show” helps solve the question of who would permanently host the show. Trevor Noah surprised everyone by announcing he was leaving in September 2022, with his last day as host on December 8 of that year.

During the year without a permanent host, “The Daily Show” had different guest hosts in 2023. Celebrities like Leslie Jones, Sarah Silverman, and Kal Penn took turns, along with others like Wanda Sykes, Chelsea Handler, D. L. Hughley, Al Franken, John Leguizamo, Marlon Wayans, Hasan Minhaj, Desus Nice, Michelle Wolf, and Charlamagne tha God.

Jon Stewart’s return to late-night TV will surely bring some much-needed clarity and humor to the crazy world of today’s politics.
