Demi Moore is providing valuable advice for families grappling with loved ones facing dementia, offering an update on her ex-husband, Bruce Willis, who has been navigating frontotemporal dementia since 2023.

The renowned “Feud” star opened up about Willis during an appearance on “Good Morning America” on Wednesday, emphasizing that, considering the circumstances, he is managing quite well. Willis and Moore share three adult children: Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah.

In the interview, Demi Moore shared the counsel she has given her children as they support their father through his dementia battle. Her advice centers on meeting the affected person where they are and embracing the present moment. She urged others in similar situations to let go of preconceived notions about the individual’s past self and focus on the beauty, sweetness, love, and joy that can be found in the present.

Demi Moore’s Guidance Amid Bruce Willis’ Dementia Struggle

This perspective echoes Demi Moore’s earlier message conveyed during an interview with Andy Cohen on Sirius XM. Responding to a question about caring for family members with dementia, she stressed the importance of releasing expectations and staying present to appreciate the joy and love available in the current moment.

Bruce Willis, known for his role in “Die Hard,” was married to Demi Moore from 1987 to 2000. After their divorce, Willis married Emma Heming, while Moore wed Ashton Kutcher in 2005, ending their marriage in 2011.

Willis’ family disclosed in March 2022 that he would be stepping away from acting due to a diagnosis of aphasia, a condition affecting his cognitive abilities. Subsequently, in February 2023, the family revealed that his condition had progressed, leading to the diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia.

Frontotemporal dementia is a group of brain disorders characterized by the degeneration of the frontal and/or temporal lobes, according to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.

A close friend of Willis, Glenn Gordon Caron, creator of “Moonlighting,” shared insights with The New York Post in October. Caron noted that Willis faces challenges with verbal communication, but despite the limitations, those close to him can still recognize the essence of Bruce when spending time with him.

Emma Heming, Willis’ current wife, has also been candid about the difficulties of caring for him. In a 2023 Instagram post, she shared that she experiences moments of sadness and grief every day.
