The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is about to get a wild shake-up with the arrival of Ryan Reynolds’s Wade Wilson, better known as Deadpool. Marvel Entertainment dropped the first trailer for “Deadpool and Wolverine” on Monday, and it’s promising to change the MCU as we know it.
Debuting during the 2024 Super Bowl, the trailer kicks off with Matthew Macfadyen’s TVA bureaucrat crashing Deadpool’s birthday bash. Soon enough, he finds himself whisked away to the Time Variance Authority’s headquarters, familiar to fans of “Loki.”
Tasked with aiding Marvel’s superhero team, he unleashes a barrage of R-rated quips and dark humor, showcasing his trademark antihero style. At one point, he even dubs himself “Marvel Jesus,” hinting at his messianic ambitions to alter the MCU’s multiverse forever.
Matthew Macfadyen portrays Paradox, the TVA official who introduces Wade Wilson to the wider world of Marvel heroes. As Wade Wilson marvels at iconic MCU moments on the screen, Paradox encourages him, saying, “This is your chance to be a hero among heroes.”

The trailer tantalizingly teases Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, though his appearance remains shrouded in mystery. Fans catch glimpses of him from behind and as a shadow, stirring excitement for his return despite his apparent demise in 2017’s “Logan.”
“Deadpool and Wolverine” follows the titular characters’ previous solo adventures. In 2016, Wade Wilson sought vengeance against Ajax, the man responsible for his transformation into a mutant. Then, in 2018, he assembled a mutant team to thwart a time-traveling mercenary.
Directed by Shawn Levy, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is set to hit theaters worldwide on July 26th, promising a raucous ride through the MCU unlike anything fans have seen before.
