MCU Director Teases: Deadpool 3 May Get Very Different Title

Shawn Levy, director of Deadpool 3, hints at the possibility of a different title for the film. With Deadpool entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine to face off against the Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool 3 is one of the most eagerly awaited projects in 2024, not just for Marvel but for the entire entertainment industry. Fans anticipate the release of the first trailer during Super Bowl LVIII.

In an interview at the Directors Guild of America Awards, Reportedly Levy was asked about the title of Deadpool 3. Playfully, he suggested that a new title might be unveiled soon, but cautioned that he must be careful with what he reveals to avoid “my own murder” at the hands of Reynolds. Deadpool 3 marks the third collaboration between Reynolds and Levy. Levy’s response reads:

“Not yet. You see, it’s the first pause in this interview because that’s how careful I need to be. Not yet, but maybe it will soon. Was that coy enough? I feel like I was going for like disingenuous coy. But I truly love my collaboration and friendship with Ryan Reynolds, and if I tell you anything, that friendship will end in murder. [Laughs] I don’t want my own murder, especially by a nice Canadian like Ryan Reynolds.”

Deadpool 3 Could Be The Biggest Movie Of 2024

With Deadpool 3 as the sole MCU theatrical release in 2024, anticipation is soaring. The combined appeal of Deadpool, Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman fuels excitement akin to Spider-Man: No Way Home. Effective marketing, exemplified by Reynolds’ and Jackman’s 2022 social media video, sets the stage for success. As July 26 approaches, an apt title resonating with Deadpool’s tone will enhance Deadpool 3’s marketing, potentially unveiled alongside the anticipated Super Bowl trailer debut.
