Based on the Kannada movies Ugramm and KG, the film tells a story of friendship turning into enmity due to political circumstances. Prabhas plays Deva, while Prithviraj portrays Varadharah Mannar. The movie is said to have made Rs 175 crore at the global box office on day 1, with expectations of further growth over the weekend, given its high occupancy rate of over 95%.

In addition to the main leads, Salaar features Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, and Sriya Reddy in prominent roles, with music composed by Ravi Basrur. The film clashed at the box office with the Hindi film Dunki, starring Shah Rukh Khan, and emerged victorious in the competition.
