Sania Mirza Has Filed For Divorce 'Khula’ From Husband Shoaib Malik

Tennis star Sania Mirza has reportedly finalized her divorce from former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik, according to unconfirmed sources reported by Pakistan’s Geo News. This development comes shortly after Shoaib Malik’s announcement of his third marriage to Pakistani actress Sana Javed.

The unverified information suggests that Sania Mirza took the initiative to file for divorce, citing alleged dissatisfaction with Shoaib Malik’s interactions with other women. The couple, who initially tied the knot in April 2010 in Hyderabad, Sania Mirza’s hometown, and later relocated to Dubai, welcomed their son, Izhaan Mirza Malik, in 2018.

Speculation surrounding their separation began circulating as the couple was seen less frequently together in public. Further fueling the rumors, Shoaib Malik unfollowed Sania on Instagram and changed his bio from “Husband to a superwoman Sania Mirza” to “Father to One True Blessing.”

Sania Mirza pursued a ‘khula,’ a form of divorce in Islamic law that empowers a woman to initiate separation from her husband. This move towards dissolution was hinted at by Sania through a cryptic Instagram story alluding to the challenges of marriage and divorce.

Shoaib’s first marriage to Ayesha Siddiqui concluded in divorce in 2010. Currently, Sania Mirza and Shoaib have parted ways, reportedly engaging in co-parenting for their son Izhaan. Despite the end of their marital relationship, the former couple had collaborated on a chat show named ‘The Mirza Malik Show’ on Spotify just last year.

Shoaib Malik has already confirmed his third marriage to Pakistani actor Sana Javed through an announcement on Instagram.
