Randeep Hooda is currently engaged in promoting his upcoming film ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’. Just days before the release of his directorial debut, Randeep caused a stir on the Internet by sharing a behind-the-scenes photo from the movie set that left the fans impressed with the actors’ dedication. The monochrome mirror selfie offers a sneak peek into Randeep’s remarkable physical transformation for his role as Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. In the image, the actor, portraying Savarkar, appears much slimmer, wearing shorts. Alongside the picture, Randeep captioned, “Kaala Paani,” suggesting it was taken during the shooting of the cellular jail scene.
How Much Weight Randeep Hooda Shed For The Role?
In an interview, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s grandson, Ranjit Savarkar, disclosed that Randeep Hooda shed 30 kilograms for the film. Commending the actor’s dedication, Ranjit remarked, “’I’ve had several discussions with Randeep Hooda. He put tremendous effort into this film, shedding 30 kilograms. Films serve as a conduit through which history can be transmitted to new generations. I hope more films are made about him and other revolutionaries.”
‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ Starcast
Apart from Randeep Hooda, ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ also stars Ankita Lokhande, who portrays the character of Yamunabai, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s wife. Differentiating between Jhalkaribai’s role in ‘Manikarnika’ and Yamunabai, Ankita stated, ‘It’s unfair to compare the characters as they are entirely distinct. Jhalkaribai fought battles on the forefront, while Yamunabai operated from the shadows. Their struggles were different, yet both characters possess immense strength.’
Randeep Hooda Shares The Film’s Trailer

‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ marks Randeep Hooda’s directorial debut. Besides Randeep and Ankita Lokhande, the film also features Amit Sial. Produced jointly by Zee Studios, Anand Pandit, Sandeep Singh, and Yogesh Rahar, the movie is set to hit theaters on March 22.
