On Saturday, renowned actor Mithun Chakraborty was hospitalised in Kolkata due to reported chest discomfort. According to India Today, he experienced uneasiness leading to his admission. Currently, he is under medical care, and his condition remains a concern. Mithun Chakraborty’s family has not yet confirmed or released an official statement.
Recently seen as a judge on Dance Bangla Dance, the veteran actor was honoured with the prestigious Padma Bhushan in January 2024. With a prolific career spanning over 350 films across various Indian languages, he expressed disbelief upon receiving the award.
In a video message last month, the 73-year-old actor, who debuted in Mrinal Sen’s Mrigaya, reflected on his five-decade-long journey, stating, “After immense struggle and dedication, receiving such an honour is beyond words… I dedicate this to my fans in India and abroad, who have showered me with unconditional love.”

Mithun Chakraborty’s son, actor Mimoh Chakraborty, expressed immense happiness regarding his father’s Padma Bhushan, saying, “I am overwhelmed with pride and joy. It’s an honour beyond words… Dad truly deserves this recognition, and I am deeply thankful to the government and institutions for bestowing him with this esteemed award.
