During an interview on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row, Stone explained her authentic portrayal of Bella.

Stone began by emphasizing Bella’s unapologetic acceptance of her body and the significant role intimacy plays in her journey. She clarified that, while not advocating constant nudity, she aimed to stay true to Bella’s perspective as she explores the world.

According to Stone, the film underwent changes in the UK, especially in intimate scenes. Stone disagreed with cutting these scenes based on societal norms, stating it would compromise Bella’s true essence.

Stone won a Golden Globe for her role as Bella, describing it as a transformative experience. She expressed gratitude, saying, “I see this as a romantic comedy where Bella falls in love with life itself, accepting both the good and bad. This means a lot to me; thank you.”

Stone also received the 2024 Critics Choice Award for her portrayal of Bella, indicating that despite controversy, her performance is being positively recognized.
