Justin Timberlake’s Lawyer Issues Statement on DWI Charges, Vows Vigorous Defense

Justin Timberlake’s legal team is gearing up for what promises to be a contentious battle in court. The pop star’s attorney, Edward Burke Jr., expressed a strong commitment to defending his client in light of recent DWI charges. In a statement released to Hollywood Life on Wednesday, June 19, Burke stated, “I will have a lot to say at the appropriate time but am currently awaiting full discovery from the District Attorney’s office.”

Burke emphasized his readiness to challenge the allegations head-on, adding, “I look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake on these allegations.”

The incident in question occurred on Tuesday, June 18, when the 43-year-old singer and NSYNC member was stopped by a police officer in the Hamptons on Long Island, New York. According to the criminal complaint obtained by CNN, Timberlake allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and was not maintaining his lane while driving a 2025 BMW.

The arresting officer reported that Timberlake exhibited signs of impairment, noting his “bloodshot and glassy” eyes, “slowed speech,” and unsteady footing. Timberlake allegedly performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests and refused to take a Breathalyzer test three times, resulting in a charge of one count of driving while intoxicated, along with two traffic violations.

During the encounter, Timberlake reportedly admitted to the officer, “I had one martini, and I followed my friends home.”

Burke, in a statement to Us Weekly, clarified, “The charge was a single count because he refused the breath test. Mr. Timberlake was also charged with two other court citations, running a stop sign and not traveling in the correct traffic lane.”

Following his arrest at approximately 12:30 a.m., Timberlake was processed at the Sag Harbor Police Department and subsequently released a few hours later.

The Sag Harbor Police Department has yet to respond to requests for comment from Hollywood Life.

Timberlake’s arrest comes amid his ongoing Forget Tomorrow world tour, with an upcoming performance scheduled in Chicago later this week. He is also slated to return to New York for a highly anticipated show at Madison Square Garden later this month.

In the aftermath of his release, Timberlake’s wife, Jessica Biel, was seen in Manhattan, busy with the filming of her upcoming Prime Video series, The Better Sister. Neither Timberlake nor Biel has made any public statements regarding the arrest.

Timberlake’s fans and the public will closely watch how the legal proceedings develop as the case unfolds. With Edward Burke Jr.’s firm declaration of a vigorous defense, it is clear that Timberlake’s team is preparing for a robust legal fight. The next steps will likely include detailed examinations of the evidence and strategic planning by the defense.

This situation marks a significant moment in Timberlake’s career, and its resolution will undoubtedly be a point of keen interest for both his supporters and detractors. The unfolding legal battle will reveal much about the strength of the case against him and the efficacy of his defense.
