Indian musicians Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain, along with their fusion band ‘Shakti,’ clinched the prestigious Grammy Award for ‘Best Global Music Album’ on Monday, triumphing with their latest masterpiece, ‘This Moment.’ The triumphant moment was captured in a snapshot shared by the Grammys on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, portraying Mahadevan and another band member, Ganesh Rajagopalan, graciously accepting the accolade on stage. During the acceptance speech, Mahadevan expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you boys. Thank you God, family, friends, and India. The acclaimed album, ‘This Moment,’ unveiled on June 30 the previous year, showcases eight mesmerizing tracks featuring John McLaughlin (guitar synth), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Shankar Mahadevan (vocalist), V Selvaganesh (percussionist), and Ganesh Rajagopalan (violinist). The band faced tough competition at the Grammys, contending with notable artists such as Susana Baca, Bokante, Burna Boy, and Davido.
