Dhanush's 'Raayan' Postponed, Now Hitting Theatres in July

Dhanush is set to release his second directorial venture, ‘Raayan’. Originally scheduled for June 13, the release has been postponed. He announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) that ‘Raayan’ will now hit theatres on July 26 in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

He shared the post with the caption, “#Raayan from July 26.”

About 'Raayan'

‘Raayan’ is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language action thriller film, written and directed by Dhanush in his second directorial effort. Officially announced in January 2024 with the tentative title D50, marking his 50th film, it was predominantly shot in Chennai and Karaikudi, wrapping up in mid-December.

Originally slated for a June 13, 2024 release, ‘Raayan’ was postponed for unspecified reasons. It is now set to release worldwide on July 26, coinciding with his birthday. The film was made on a budget of Rs 100 crore.

In addition to writing and directing, he plays the lead role in ‘Raayan’. The film features an ensemble cast including SJ Suryah, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Selvaraghavan, Prakash Raj, Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali, and Saravanan. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar makes a cameo appearance.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures, the film’s music is composed by AR Rahman. Cinematographer Om Prakash and editor Prasanna GK are also part of the technical team.

Dhanush's Upcoming Directorial Projects

Besides ‘Raayan’, he has two other directorial projects, ‘Nilavukku En Mel Ennadi Kobam’ and ‘Kubera’, in the pipeline.
