Breaking | Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev Undergoes Emergency Brain Surgery

Renowned spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev recently underwent critical brain surgery following a harrowing diagnosis. The emergency procedure took place at a distinguished private hospital in New Delhi, according to an announcement from the medical facility on March 20.

The surgery, conducted on March 17, aimed to address significant bleeding within Sadhguru’s skull. Post-surgery, he gradually recovered and was successfully taken off ventilator support, with the hospital statement affirming a positive trajectory in his overall condition, including improvements in brain function and vital signs.

A prominent figure in the spiritual realm, Sadhguru, aged 66, is celebrated for his founding of the Isha Foundation and his advocacy efforts for environmental causes, notably the ‘Save Soil’ and ‘Rally for Rivers’ campaigns.

From Spiritual Leadership to Surgical Intervention: Sadhguru’s Path to Healing

His health ordeal began with persistent and severe headaches over a span of four weeks. Despite enduring intense discomfort, Sadhguru persisted with his regular commitments and social engagements, even presiding over the Maha Shivaratri function on March 8.

As the headaches intensified by March 15, he consulted with Dr. Vinit Suri, a senior consultant neurologist at the hospital, who promptly recognized the urgency of the situation. Suspecting a subdural hematoma, Dr. Suri recommended an immediate MRI, which subsequently unveiled the alarming extent of bleeding in Sadhguru’s skull.

The MRI results indicated both chronic bleeding persisting for weeks and fresh bleeding occurring within the prior 24 to 48 hours, prompting the necessity for urgent medical intervention.

Despite medical advice for immediate hospitalization and treatment adjustment, Sadhguru persisted with his commitments, powered by pain medication, which enabled him to fulfill important engagements scheduled for March 15 and 16.

However, by March 17, Sadhguru experienced a significant deterioration in his condition, marked by decreased consciousness levels and weakness in his left leg. These developments led to his admission under the care of Dr. Suri, who, after a CT scan revealed alarming brain swelling, determined that surgical intervention was imperative.

A team of adept medical professionals, including Dr. Vinit Suri, Dr. Pranav Kumar, Dr. Sudheer Tyagi, and Dr. S. Chatterjee, collaborated to perform the emergency brain surgery. The procedure aimed to alleviate the bleeding within Sadhguru’s skull, a critical step in stabilizing his condition and facilitating his recovery.

Sadhguru’s journey through this medical crisis underscores the fragility of human health, even amidst a life dedicated to spiritual pursuits. His resilience in the face of adversity serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment to his mission and teachings. As he continues on the path to recovery, supporters and well-wishers worldwide remain steadfast in their hopes and prayers for his swift and complete healing.
