Why is Bollywood remembering Rajinikanth, Kya hai Khaas aaj?

Rajinikanth turns a year older in style today. Here’s looking back at when Bollywood stars had nothing but praise for the Kollywood star.

Superstar Rajinikanth celebrated another year on December 12, and though he might be getting a bit older in real life, on-screen, he’s the forever cool and unbeatable Superstar Rajini for his fans. Remember that punchy line “My way is my own” (En vazhi, thani vazhi!), the one that shuts up the doubters? Classic Rajini magic!

For 90s kids, growing up meant trying to be as cool as Rajini, even if it meant breaking a few sunglasses along the way. And it’s not just the fans; even the big shots in Bollywood can’t help but shower praises on our favourite star, and it’s easy to see why!

Amir Khan: Rajinikanth is truly one of a kind.

Aamir Khan, the guy who always picks his roles carefully, once said no to the lead role in Shankar’s ‘2.0’. Not because of the story he just couldn’t see anyone else rocking Vaseegaran and Chitti like Rajini. In 2017, he spilled the beans, “Rajini sir thought he wasn’t fit enough to shoot, and he suggested Shankar rope me in. But when I closed my eyes, I could only see Rajini sir in the role. He’s one of a kind. I read the script; it’s going to be a hit. But only he could do it. Easy decision because I’m his fan.”

Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth: A Bond that Goes Beyond the Screen.

Amitabh Bachchan, who was Rajini’s buddy in the 1991 film ‘Hum’, thinks of him like family. At IFFI 2019 in Goa, Amitabh spilled the beans, “Rajinikanth ji is like family. We talk, give each other advice. Sometimes I tell him not to do something, but he does it anyway. Thank you, Rajini, for being such an inspiration. Such a humble guy, who started from scratch. Inspires us every day.”

Hrithik Roshan: I Could Speak My Mind Freely With Rajinikanth.

Hrithik Roshan, who hung out with Rajini on the sets of ‘Bhagwaan Dada’ in 1986 when he was just a kid, remembers those days with a smile. “I used to chat with him like he was my buddy. He was cool, and forgave all my mistakes. I remember when I messed up a shot, Rajini sir apologised so I wouldn’t feel bad. Such a sweet memory.” Rajini is not just a superstar but a buddy and guide to many in Bollywood!
