Veteran Actor Sharmila Tagore Reveals She Battled Cancer On Koffee With Karan 8.

In a recent episode of ‘Koffee with Karan,’ veteran actress Sharmila Tagore hinted at a health setback, revealing why she couldn’t take on a role in Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.’ Concerned about her well-being during the height of the pandemic and being unvaccinated post-cancer, Sharmila opted out, paving the way for Shabana Azmi to step into the role.

Expressing regret, Karan Johar acknowledged Sharmila as his initial choice, stating, “I’d offered Sharmila ji the part played by Shabana ji; she was my very first choice. But because of health reasons at that time, she couldn’t say yes. It is a regret I have.” Sharmila, 79, shared that the decision was influenced by the uncertainty of the pandemic and her recent battle with cancer.

While the cinema icon did not delve into the specifics of her cancer journey, she emphasised her commitment to avoiding risks during the uncertain times of the pandemic. Despite the missed opportunity, Sharmila expressed hope for future collaborations with Karan Johar, stating, “It will be a regret, and it is something I hope that we can make up for and work together.”
