A new Bollywood movie called “Main Atal Hoon,” starring Pankaj Tripathi as former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, released its trailer recently. The film focuses on Vajpayee’s political journey, exploring his early days and portraying him as the ‘leader you know but the man you didn’t.’ The trailer covers key moments in Indian history, such as the Emergency, Kargil War, Ram Janmbhoomi, Pokhran, and Lahore Bus Yatra.
Ravi Jadhav, known for his National Award-winning Marathi films, the movie “Mai Atal Hoon” has sparked interest, though some may feel that Pankaj Tripathi’s choice to play the political leader is unconventional. The trailer, while touching on significant events, may miss out on some crucial chapters for those who experienced the 1990s and 2000s.
Pankaj Tripathi shared that playing Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a heartfelt journey. He expressed honour in bringing the inspiring story of the legendary figure to the big screen, hoping audiences would appreciate their efforts. In an interesting detail, he mentioned eating only khichdi, self-cooked without oil or masalas, for 60 days during the shooting of the film Mai Atal Hoon. The trailer has already been trending on Youtube and Twitter.
Mai Atal Hoon, Directed by Ravi Jadhav, who previously worked on acclaimed Marathi films, and having Pankaj Tripathi in a challenging role, “Main Atal Hoon” is set to release on January 19, 2024. Interestingly, this coincides with the 18th Lok Sabha Elections in India, adding an extra layer of relevance to the movie’s release in 2024.
