Introduction
In the rural setting of Anjanadri village, the tale of HanuMan starts. Here emerges Hanumanta (Teja Sajja), a mere pickpocket whose life takes an extraordinary turn when he unexpectedly gets the divine powers of Lord Hanuman. Motivated by a burning passion for confronting the injustice by the classist leaders posing as saviours against the forest Dacoit.
His exploration, however, is not only limited to village politics and injustice but also involves another challenging opponent, Michael. This self-proclaimed superhero, in reality who reveals himself as a supervillain, exploiting the village for personal gain. As Hanumanta faces these dual challenges, the storyline is more than mere village drama, evolving into a struggle between righteousness and deceit.
Plot Summary and Script Analysis
The film kicks into the Marvel and DC superhero world, showcasing Michael (Vinay Rai) and his childhood obsession with becoming a superhero. The movie quickly shifts to a village scene, introducing us to Hanumanta (Teja Sajja). As Hanumanta adjust with his newfound powers, the first half unfolds with light-hearted comedy, a touch of notorious romance with Meenakshi (Amritha Aiyer), light-hearted comedy and action, quite specific in South Indian cinema, and character building for Hanumantha, who faces challenges in understanding and controlling his newfound abilities.
The second half of the storyline delves into Hanumanta’s struggles against unjust forces and his fight against Michael to safeguard the truth. While the narrative keeps you engaged, it doesn’t serve anything freshly baked that takes you on a surprise ride. The film offers a mix of humour, romance, and character development in the first half, followed by a more intense and action-packed second half. Despite lacking a groundbreaking twist, the story keeps viewers hooked with its engaging sequences and an ending suggesting a sequel coming up.
HanuMan Movie Review: Star Performance
Teja Sajja’s portrayal of Hanumanta stands out, offering a relatable superhero rather than the stereotypical muscular figure. Amritha Aiyer and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar deliver solid and engaing performances, while Vinay Rai’s villain character feels underutilised. Supporting actors like Satya and Getup Srinu contribute to some feel-good humour.
HanuMan Movie Review: Direction and Musical Score
The music in the movie, especially during the exciting parts, is great. The camera work by Dasaradhi Sivendra matches the director’s ideas well, but some parts of the editing could be better.
The director, Prasanth Varma, did a good job creating impactful moments throughout the film, especially in the last minutes of the movie or the underwater scene when Hanumantha gets his powers. Scenes with Lord Hanuman are done really well. The movie’s success is not just about making it with a small budget but also challenging the usual ways of big stars in the industry.
While the story keeps you interested in a possible sequel, some funny and romantic parts make the movie longer than needed. Some moments could have been better, and the special effects, especially in certain scenes, could have been improved.
The background music adds to the overall experience, making the movie more engaging. The use of Vedic verses suited well.

HanuMan gets three and a half stars. The movie storyline isn’t only about mythology or things we already know about Lord Hanuman. It has its own fun story, making it enjoyable for families and kids.
