Ranbir Kapoor’s film “Animal Movie” is making waves, holding its ground for two weeks, earning Rs 8.75 crore on its 14th day globally.
Ranbir Kapoor’s latest, Animal Movie, has been ruling the box office for a solid two weeks now and is now inches away from breaking Baahubali 2’s record in India. Despite stirring up some controversy due to its portrayal of misogyny and intense violence, the movie has been attracting large audiences to theatres. As it completes its 14th day on the big screen, “Animal” has managed to maintain its stronghold, although it recorded its lowest single-day earnings of Rs 8.75 crore on this particular day. This brings the film’s total domestic net collection to an impressive Rs 476.84 crore.
From its grand opening at Rs 63.8 crore, Animal Movie peaked on the third day in theatres, raking in Rs 71.46 crore. However, after the second weekend, the film experienced a decline in collections, falling below Rs 15 crore. On Thursday, the film had 1264 shows in the Delhi-NCR region, with an occupancy rate of 17.25%, and in Mumbai, it had 801 shows with an occupancy of 15%.
On the global front, the film has already amassed Rs 772.33 crore in its first 13 days, according to T-Series. It was anticipated that on the 14th day, the film will surpass the Rs 800 crore mark. With another weekend approaching and no major releases in the pipeline, “Animal” has the opportunity to further boost its earnings. However, the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dunki” and Prabhaas’ “Salaar” next weekend may pose a challenge to the film’s continued dominance at the domestic box office.
Animal Movie is on the verge of surpassing the lifetime collection of “Baahubali 2” (Hindi) in India. “Baahubali 2,” directed by SS Rajamouli, had a net domestic collection of Rs 510.99 crore when it was released in 2017, as reported by Bollywood Hungama. While “Baahubali 2” (Hindi) held the top spot for a long time, films like Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan,” Jawan, and Sunny Deol’s “Gadar 2” exceeded its collections this year.
Animal Movie Crossing Baahubali2 Mark
Now, it looks like Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s “Animal” is poised to surpass “Baahubali 2” (Hindi) as well. However, it’s worth noting that the domestic net collections of “Baahubali 2” in all languages were a whopping Rs 1030.42 crore.
In 2023, Hindi cinema has seen remarkable success, with films like “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,” “The Kerala Story,” “OMG 2,” and “Dream Girl 2” performing well at the box office. While “Jawan” has been the top grosser of the year so far, the release of “Dunki” or “Salaar” might shake up the rankings, making it interesting to see which film will emerge as the ultimate winner.
